History

It is dated to the late 18th or the 19th century. The manor was a summer residence of Count Géza Teleki (1843-1913), writer and politician, and of his son Pál Teleki (1879-1941), later prime minister of Hungary. In 1897 Géza modernised it in eclectic style and added a floor; the design is attributed to Miklós Ybl without clear proof. It stood in a park of over 16 hectares. After nationalisation in 1949 it housed a farm cooperative office, a cinema hall and a grain store. As no heirs claimed it, it passed to Satulung commune in 2006, and in 2007 an English descendant of the family bought it but could not restore it. It was offered at auction through Artmark in 2019 from 275,000 EUR (estimated value 400,000-500,000 EUR), and in early 2022 the county council was reported to have decided to buy it for 210,000 EUR.
