History
Prince Gábor Báthory gave the estate to the Daniel family of Vargyas in 1609 and Gábor Bethlen confirmed it for Mihály Daniel I in 1621. A 16th-century manor was demolished and its materials used for the current core. Mihály Daniel II added an east wing in 1668-1669 and an upper floor in 1680, and a stone doorframe carries the 1669 motto DEUS PROVIDEBIT. The Tălișoara male line died out in 1801; the estate passed to the Rauber von Plankenstein family and returned to the Daniels in 1853. Gábor Daniel and Mária Rauber added a classicist north wing in the 1880s. Anna Daniel owned it between the wars and sold it in 1946 to two local families. It was nationalised in 1949 and used as offices, granary and chemical store, losing its furnishings. After 1989 the buyers' heirs recovered it and sold it to a private couple, who restored it in 2010-2011 with EU funds and opened a hotel.
