History

Radu III Dudescu probably began the church around 1714-1715, but work stopped when he was executed at Adrianople in 1716 after the fall of Ștefan Cantacuzino. The family moved to Transylvania and regained its estates after 1718 through Prince Nicolae Mavrocordat. Constantin Dudescu, a high divan official from 1730 to 1763, completed the second building stage in 1732, recorded by an inscription in the church porch. At the end of the 19th century the property passed to Nicolae Amira, who repaired the church in 1889. Later the house stood in the yard of an agricultural cooperative; after its liquidation it came to a private owner from Bucharest. A historic cellar next to the church courtyard is in ruins.
