History

The village lies on the former Beloaica estate of Elena Mavrocordat, which once exceeded 14,000 hectares, on a stagecoach route between Bucharest and Craiova. According to the sale listing, the manor was built in 1890 as the country residence of industrialist Dumitru Voinea, who owned two factories in Bucharest and Brașov, on land earlier linked to the Olănescu brothers. After nationalisation the state used it, last as the seat of the Blejești agricultural cooperative. According to the listing, some annexes have been renovated and others are under renovation. The property is marketed by Romania Sotheby's at EUR 395,000.
