History
According to the commune's Wikipedia article, a princely stopover residence stood here in the time of Constantin Brâncoveanu (1688-1714) and was later restored by Barbu Știrbei. The estate passed with its lands to Costache Sturdza, of the Moldavian Sturdza family, through his marriage to Irina Câmpineanu, who had inherited it. The Sturdza family kept it until 1948, when it was nationalised. Afterwards the main buildings were used as schools, an agricultural cooperative office and kindergartens.
