Summary

A manor built in the early 19th century by the Gigurtu family at 14-16 Băii Street in Ciorogârla (Ilfov County), listed together with the Saint George church. After nationalisation in 1948 it served as a vocational school and a maternity home; it has since been abandoned and is in ruins.

Legal status

Nationalised in 1948; listed historic monument (LMI IF-II-a-B-15272) ↗

History

According to SOS Patrimoniu (2022), the manor was built in the early 19th century by the Gigurtu family, whose members were important politicians in the interwar period. It was nationalised in 1948 and then housed a vocational school for agricultural mechanics and welders, a maternity home and finally a sheepfold. After the 1990s it was abandoned and vandalised, and the same article describes it as in a precarious, near-collapse state with no conservation measures taken. A 2026 news article describes it as a ruin with standing walls and windows without glass. It forms one listing with the Saint George church (1832).
