Conacul Böszörményi (Helmeczy)
Satu Mare
Listed as not accessible by Monumente Uitate
Summary
A manor in the village of Petin (Păulești commune, Satu Mare County), associated with the Böszörményi and Helmeczy families. It is recorded by Monumente Uitate as having no current function and as not accessible.
History
Petin (Hungarian Pettyén) received a royal land grant to Sámuel Böszörményi Nagy in 1726. Several families, among them the Szeleczky, Virág, Décsey, Szentkirályi and Apor families, held land in the village from 1820 to the mid-19th century. At the start of the 20th century the estate belonged to Sándor Böszörményi, and the Hungarian Wikipedia article on the village shows a photograph captioned as his gentry residence. Monumente Uitate lists the manor under the names Böszörményi and Helmeczy and records it as disused. Local press reports that after the Second World War Károly Böszörményi, owner of large estates in the village, handed his property over to the communist authorities and moved to Satu Mare; the manor then became the headquarters of the village agricultural cooperative.
