History
According to a county tourism guide, the manor at Fântânele was built by Baron Antal Kover, who bought the property from a certain Pigethz Mihaly for 29,600 guldens; the guide dates the castle to the mid-19th century, around 1824. The Kover family was followed by the Appel family and later by the Porcia family, who held it until nationalisation in the 1950s. The building is described as Neoclassical, with an ornate facade, monumental stairs and a large covered terrace, set in a spacious dendrological park whose notable tree is an American walnut. The castle's own website describes a Baroque-Neoclassical building with a single storey and a symmetrical layout around a large central hall.
