History
The portico decoration bears the initials G.B.I. and the date 1751; the builder is not known. The symmetrical rectangular house has square corner bastions, a central portico and ten mostly vaulted rooms, plus a two-storey T-shaped gatehouse. It was nationalised from Countess Rozália Mikes, widow of Count Ferenc Béldi (1872-1942), and first used as a girls' reform institution. After 1965 its canteen served the agricultural lyceum in the neighbouring Mikes castle. In 1982 it passed to the ONT Carpați tourism enterprise, which ran a pig farm on the Béldi, Mikes and Nemes estate, and after 1989 a firm used it as a warehouse. The Mikes family is now restoring the complex for tourism.
