History

László Béldi, grandson of Pál Béldi, began the castle in 1731. In 1770 Tivadar Béldi commissioned a major remodelling and a Roman Catholic chapel in the garden. In the late 19th century Tivadar Béldi (1848-1928) had the Cluj architect Lajos Pákei renovate and enlarge it, raising the central section. The last noble owner was László Béldi (b. 1870), former lord-lieutenant of Nagy-Küküllő county. At the end of the Second World War the family sold it to the engineer Barbu Pantazi, and the state nationalised it a few years later. It served as a pioneer camp and a school, stood empty before 1989, then housed the post office and later the mayor's office, which is renovating it.
