History

The manor is dated to 1900 in the official heritage list and by a heritage-tourism page. According to an article based on Teleorman County Museum material, the Balaci estate and manor belonged to the siblings Gheorghe Gh. Dumitrescu, Angela (married to Dr. I. Făgărășanu) and Dumitru Gh. Dumitrescu; Angela lived at the manor year-round and ran the farm. After the 1945 expropriation the authorities took the farm machinery and tractors, and in 1948 local authorities proposed requisitioning the manor for a kindergarten. Monumente Uitate records it as having no current function. It is one of the protected buildings in Balaci commune, alongside the ruins of a 17th-century court of Constantin Aga Bălăceanu.
